Loudoun Benefit is located on the Salem and Grafton Showgrounds in Upperville, VA which have hosted the Upperville Colt and Horse Show for many years.
This area of Virginia is famous as some of the most beautiful and important horse country in the world. It is the home to many Olympians from Show Jumping, Three Day Eventing and Dressage, as well, as steeplechase trainers and some of the most prestigious fox hunts in the U.S..
The area has beautiful, green rolling fields with the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding it. You will see old stone walls that divide the country and historic buildings and farms where Civil War skirmishes were fought many years ago.
In addition to just being a beautiful place for a show, a huge investment has been made in the show grounds to provide a world class facility from a footing and exhibitor stand point. The jumper rings have been switched from grass to a "David Steffee" surface where water acts as the base and water levels are adjusted to provide softer or firmer footing. This surface came at the suggestion of Joe Fargis who called from a show in the Mid-west to say that he had found the footing for us. The hunter side is equally nice with footing installed by Henri Prudent which is a NARSS surface.
